There was a time, I want to start a new project and have to choose what technologies to use for the frontend and backend parts as well. Research gets me to Aqueduct and Shelf, both of them weren't looking actively developing and supported and that leads me to the idea to make my own small micro-framework like Echo for Golang or Bottle for Python. And it was easy to decide: I've had time and motivation :)

We are't using one of the frameworks for Dart on the backend (Conduit, Dart Frog) and instead built on top of shelf for both the projects we've used Dart on the backend for - one we went for a gRPC approach and the implemented a REST API.

Shelf provides different functionalities that I can be abstracted of, some other packages are using it also, like functions framework

I have been doing a review of the backend portion of our product development and have been researching Dart Cloud Functions Framework this product is under most developers radar, even Flutter developers but you can write serverless functions and deploy to gcloud very easily. I had to let go of my full stack dart dream because we love using firebase and couldn't fully interact with firebase events. I'm keeping a very close eye on it because the development environment is amazing for local dev it's also containerized using the official dart docker image.

As part of a full-stack talk for an upcoming conference, I'm going to do a very short demo with a Flutter desktop app calling a Dart serverless app (created with the Dart Functions Framework dartfn tool) running on Cloud Run.
