Email Solutions (SES vs Selfhosted)
For anyone interested, the solution I have settled on (for now) is to use SES and then self host SESdashboard (https://sesdashboard.com/) to provide a mailgun stlye interface to review logs etc.. so far working well with one domain!

Mailing API using AWS SES
I've seen a few email marketing tools but all of those seems to be focused on sending either newsletters or email campaigns. Closest thing I've seen so far is https://sesdashboard.com/ but looks like it a read only side, and if possible I'd like it to handle sending part too.

I tried the self-hosted version of Matomo [1][2] a few years back but I remember it was a bit underwhelming for the effort required to set it up.
