Disable/bypass IPv6 DNS on arris surfboard
radvd can do this. Have it advertise your DNS to your IPv6 enabled hosts, and you should be good to go.

As of a few years ago you don’t need DHCPv6 any more. Router advertisements can announce recursive DNS servers (RDNSS) clients might like to use, eg:
