The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.

Heheh I know this pain. And just to prove a point, I now write all of my READMEs in org, then export to markdown. I even tried auto-org-md for a while, until I realized that I use org for org's sake far more than I do for malicious compliance
