    I already use tmpfs for /var/tmp/portage on my main Gentoo machine. I've had some problems with it for the server in this post, which is 32-bit (I use it to build binaries for my old Core ThinkPad that I can't bear to scrap), I think there's a lack of inodes in 32-bit, but I need to look at it again, I think I can override that. Also just stumbled across this, haven't tried it yet though: https://github.com/nabbi/gentoo-portage-tmpfs
