ideas for a course project?
Another idea is based on what I'm currently working on, so this is probably not of interest, but hey, who knows: I came up with a small file format that describes "terminal images", meaning ASCII/ANSI art. You could write a small program that can display such files. Or that can display the meta information of those files. Or that can display palettes. Or that can edit these files.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing tt and nuru you can also consider the following projects:
ttyper - Terminal-based typing test.
sc-im - sc-im - Spreadsheet Calculator Improvised -- An ncurses spreadsheet program for terminal
Typr - Practice your typing skills with the use of random quotes provided by one of the implemented API's.
libtexprintf - Library providing printf-style formatted output routines with tex-like syntax support.
quickqwerty - Touch typing tutor that runs in your web browser
cowsay-files - A collection of additional/alternative cowsay files.
TouchTyper - A minimalistic typing test software inspired by monkeytype built using C++ for both desktop and browser.
Image-to-ASCII - 🖼️ A cross-platform command-line tool for converting images to ASCII art
