Meson setup fails when checking for fts_open function on OpenBSD
I'm working on rmw and found that the meson setup fails on OpenBSD 7.0 when it checks for the fts_open function. This works on all Linux systems I've tried, MacOS, and FreeBSD.

rmw v0.9.0 released
The features of rmw are documented in README.md, and there's some additional information on the rmw website. I haven't documented comparisons between rmw and other cli trash programs, but there's a list of similar projects on the trash-d repo.

Files getting permanently deleted instead of going in trash first xfce
I haven't tried to rearrange anything yet. What I did was added a custom action in Thunar for ReMove to Waste so when right-clicking on an item, I can can send it to the trash (full disclosure: rmw is a project I maintain).

Are there any tools to add a "recycle bin" or similar to the command line? So that rm does not delete a file immediately?
You'll wanna have a look at one of my projects at https://remove-to-waste.info/

rmw (ReMove to Waste), a command line trash utility
I got most of the PR done if you feel like reviewing it a little. All the tests still aren't passing but it appears to be unrelated. But it's irritating me because they were passing before. But I'm taking a break for now! Thanks again.

Ask HN: Interesting TUIs (text user interfaces), maybe forgotten ones?
Some alternatives:
* `vifm` file manager, more powerful and performant than ranger, for those who lean towards vim keybindings: https://vifm.info/
* `btop` process monitor, for those who like eye candy: https://github.com/aristocratos/btop

Managing your files. How do you do it?
I'm already using vifm as my main-file-manager so I'm using `fm-nvim with a custom vifm-open-function to open up vifm in nvim.

Very new to Vim. Having trouble with running programs
You might want “vifm” instead, it’s a vim inspired file manager for the CLI that will let you see files and open them … https://github.com/vifm/vifm

Using neovim without a file tree plugin
I'm using vifm as my daily file manager, so I added it to neovim and I'm very happy with it! :)
-
vifm questions welcome here?
No, it's a standalone Vim-like file manager (site).

With great power comes great responsibility...
Hey it's already done. Vifm or nnn; take your pick. I prefer nnn since it's faster.
What are some alternatives?
libspng - Simple, modern libpng alternative
ranger - A VIM-inspired filemanager for the console
rmwrs - Rust port of rmw
nnn - n³ The unorthodox terminal file manager
trashy - A sane intermediary to the unix 'rm' command. This is a mirror of gitlab.com/trashy
fm-nvim - 🗂 Neovim plugin that lets you use your favorite terminal file managers (and fuzzy finders) from within Neovim.
zrythm - a highly automated and intuitive digital audio workstation - official mirror
fd - A simple, fast and user-friendly alternative to 'find'
rip - A safe and ergonomic alternative to rm
chafa - 📺🗿 Terminal graphics for the 21st century.
z.lua - :zap: A new cd command that helps you navigate faster by learning your habits.
broot - A new way to see and navigate directory trees : https://dystroy.org/broot
