Should I try Keychron
you can download an installer from their github repository and install VIA onto your PC to use fully offline without a web browser

Cannot use FN + Number keys
Fn keys are generally determined by the keyboard's firmware not the OS. I have multiple 65% keebs from the likes of Ducky, Durgod & Keychron, all work just fine on Linux. You haven't said what your keyboard is but see if it's supported by via (use the appimage package) and test.

"Received invalid protocol version from device" and "Device must be open first" errors on VIA after updating firmware on K3 Pro RGB ISO
There is also a desktop version.

Hello, so I just received my K10 Pro today, but I keep on getting errors when I try to use VIA. Is this normal? Thanks!
I was able to get this working by installing the desktop version of VIA as suggested here. I am running Debian, so YMMV.

How do I download VIA for Linux?
New to Linux so sorry if I'm a noob. I'm trying to install Via through the terminal, but I'm unsure of the package name. Also, I have the link to the GitHub page, but is installing an App Image the same as installing through a terminal?

Using VIA without Internet
I'm running a macOS Monterey computer without any Internet access whatsoever so I downloaded VIA from https://github.com/the-via/releases/releases using another laptop but everytime I run the app on my Mac all I get is a blank white screen. I've noticed that there's a connection attempt to usevia.app (104.21.58.242 or 172.67.166.71) during app launch. I've tried several versions of VIA going back to 2.0.5 but I can't seem to get the app to work. Is an Internet connection actually required to just re-map keys?

Meletrix Zoom65 EE - built this weekend, full report follows
I think you can still download the standalone via app, but they won't ever update it. https://github.com/the-via/releases/releases

VIA Nº3 Released
Hi Cobertt, there is a wrapper available at https://github.com/the-via/releases/releases, it should autoconnect as well so you can have the old experience of the Desktop. I hope that helps!

anyone have a working vial configuration files to share?
i wish to enable several features on my corne thru vial but could not seem to make those from this link to compile - first error was about keycode then something about dynamic keymap when i had the first fixed/simplified. i'd appreciate if anyone could share their tested vial configuration files that i can use as guide.

Anyone using VIAL on their Keychron QMK/VIA boards?

How to work on hex file from keyboard maker?
You'll probably need to download the files from the GitHub repository for Vial or QMK. Depending on what you prefer and what you need. Then you'll have to learn what you need to change to set up the screens and then to edit the files. Your keyboard maker probably can provide you some files you can use. Then you'll have to compile your own HEX file. And only after that you can re-flash your keyboard and use all those amazing things you integrated into the firmware.

Trying to use vial with Keebio iris rev 7
It looks like that's a vial keymap specifically for the rev2? I don't know whether it would make a difference, but you could try to compile from this keymap instead and see if it works?

I have to unplug and replug my ergo kb after startup before it starts working
According to this (https://github.com/vial-kb/vial-qmk/blob/vial/keyboards/bastardkb/charybdis/4x6/v2/splinky/config.h) the Vial firmware for Splinky based Charybdis is written natively using RP2040 pin names.

Megalodon Triple Knob Macro Pad Firmware Update
Think you can also port to VIAL? I am currently using the doio firmware without problems, but guessing your updates will be useful: https://github.com/vial-kb/vial-qmk/tree/vial/keyboards/doio/kb16

Help going from a VIA .json to a QMK compatible .hex | Libra Mini
I've been using VIA to edit my keyboard layout, but unfortunately the software can't find my keyboard anymore (it just gets stuck on 'Searching for devices'). I think I need to reflash my keyboard. I don't have any .hex files for it with QMK toolbox, and the libra mini doesn't show up in the list of keyboards on the online QMK configurator. I do, however, have access to the files found in vial-qmk/keyboards/libra_mini/keymaps/vial (found here https://github.com/vial-kb/vial-qmk/tree/vial/keyboards/libra_mini). I've been using the vial.json file from there to change the layout up until now. How would I go about getting a .hex file, or better yet, a keymap.JSON file compatible with the online QMK configurator?
- ID75 or XD75?
- Via no longer recognizes Drop CTRL firmware supports macros. Any suggestions?
- How do you add more macros in VIAL?
What are some alternatives?
