recaptcha VS nimforum

I know Google has a ReCAPTCHA service, and I think it’s free up to scales I would probably never use up. Still, I’d prefer something than can be self hosted so is totally free. And where you don't have to register your domain with a 3rd party, you can just use it on any domain.

The traditional way of using "I am not a robot" Recpatcha seems to be with a

Depends on what you mean by "proxying". Everything you do (serving a Single-Page Application or requesting HN by backend, processing it's HTML and sending the content to your own frontend) will take traffic away from news.ycombinator.com and to another domain - which comes with it's own set of dreadful scenarios.

There used to be (and still are) things like https://mreidsma.github.io/bookmarklets/jquerify.html which allow to inject JS on click (and thus would make it possible to transform that site), but I gave it a shot and HN is set up to disallow this:

  Refused to load the script 'https://code.jquery.com/jquery.min.js' because it violates the following Content Security Policy directive: "script-src 'self' 'unsafe-inline' https://www.google.com/recaptcha/ https://www.gstatic.com/recaptcha/ https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/". Note that 'script-src-elem' was not explicitly set, so 'script-src' is used as a fallback.

If the video example does not work, you can use the examples projects in the nim SDL repository. When ex101_init.nim works, there is no reason the video example does not work. If you have further issues, do not hesitate to share a minimal working example with your detailed configuration (Nim compiler version, command line you used, file directory, libraries installed) on the forum.nim-lang.org

It might be worth posting this on the official nim forum (https://forum.nim-lang.org/) to cast a wider net.

Obviously forums aren't as popular as they used to be, so this topic might not be of interest to many. For folks that want to run a forum, they'd most certainly go with Discourse (Ruby), Flarum (PHP), Xenforo (PHP), NodeBB (Javascript), Nimforum (Nim) and maybe Casnode (Go)

"embedded" can mean a few different things so that's a bit confusing for me, but if the intent was "show me places sqlite is used as a database backend for user-facing web software", the Nim forum (https://github.com/nim-lang/nimforum) uses sqlite as its database backend.

I love NimForum, like a simplified discourse and super light on resources. Example

uses sqlite, is actively improved, they claim the nim language makes small cross-platform binaries but none for this release it seems.
