The HTML5 project is different and made by someone else. And there's a lot of work that still needs done before it's ready to actually make games in it (there's no battle animations yet, for starters).

Also, there's an interesting ongoing project to recreate Golden Sun in HTML5 which you can find here which I could definitely see leading to some fangames in the future once its finished.

I'm much more interested in fan-made projects at this point. The OcRemix album, the HTML5 engine project, the Isaac Smash Bros mod... there's a lot of cool stuff people have done/are working on if you do a little digging. I wish more people were writing/reading fanfics; there were some really amazing stories from back when the series was at its peak. I came back after a 3 year break to continue working on my big novelization project but sadly pretty much all the writers I used to interact with have moved on at this point.

If you check out the Golden sun subreddit, there's a guy who has replicated most of the Golden Sun game engine in html5. It's pretty impressive. He's got a git repository, and welcomes help from anyone. https://github.com/jjppof/goldensun_html5
