Integrating Google Sign-In into my web app
As to your original question I realize you're trying to learn and want to integrate Google login so one thing I can suggest is disecting the source code of react-google-login to get an idea how to do it yourself. You can just use the package but that won't help you learn as much as reading the code.

Rails API + Google/Facebook Auth + React
I'm using this: https://github.com/anthonyjgrove/react-google-login to authenticate with google on the client. I setup an app in google developer console, and the library works. When you click on "Login with Google" it opens up a window and prompts you to pick a google account, and then it returns all the user information like name, email, profile picture, and an access token and userId.
What are some alternatives?
