Unstable and slow Realtek RTL8156B 2.5GbE USB-C dongle on vanilla F38
The network adapter performance is underwhelming and it keeps disconnecting every 2-3 min. It is connected in a usb-c port on a Thinkpad T480s. I found a post online from someone having this issue on Ubuntu. I tried adding the udev file rules for Realtek adapters mentionned in his post without success.

Prioritize one NIC over another with Talos?
Those udev rules came from this file: https://github.com/bb-qq/r8152/blob/master/50-usb-realtek-net.rules (lines 12 and 13, with 8 and 9 subbed in.)

2x2.5gb Networks Cards to 4x1gb Synology over SMB Multichannel 460+mb/sec
I saw a post from someone recently who used these USB adapters and this driver to add 2.5 Gbe capability to a DS1821+, though it should work with most current Synology devices.
-
DS918+ - stuck on 100Mbps on Lan 1 port. Is it possible to use the Lan 2 ethernet port by itself?
Thanks for the suggestion, I wasn't aware of this option. I have since found this page https://github.com/bb-qq/r8152 and as it's looking like the nic on my NAS is in distress I am looking into ordering a usb type-a CableCreation 2.5G Ethernet to USB Adapter for AU$30

You will need to install additional drivers.

DSM 7.2 is out
Another way is to get a 2.5gbe usb adapter and plug it into the USB port on the Synology. There's some software on GitHub that will make this work. I opted to go with an official Synology card. I already have a relatively complex network set up. I don't want to chance a sudden incompatibility and lose a weekend trying to figure out what went wrong.

Do you encrypt your home servers' drives, with what and why?
But with a 10 year old Synology I'm not sure. As KMIP Server I used this one https://github.com/rnurgaliyev/kmip-server-dsm

Migrate from DSM 7.1 encrypted folders to DSM 7.2 volume encryption
Let's look at what we have here: https://github.com/rnurgaliyev/kmip-server-dsm
-
Volume Encryption with remote KMIP Server (2 x Synology NAS)
At least on https://github.com/rnurgaliyev/kmip-server-dsm, the key entry is not encrypted, so when /usr/syno/bin/synokmip --get_with_name is called, the last key entry is returned unmodified.

Please submit a Feature Inquiry to Synology to allow using pyKMIP for volume encryption key storage
Many people already tested an comfirmed that this github project (https://github.com/rnurgaliyev/kmip-server-dsm) was working with first beta, not working with RC any more and not working with final release. Observation: KMIP server is connected and green, but automatic decryption / mounting is not possible after reboot.

Has anybody tried volume encryption in DSM 7.2 RC yet?
I've tried both using the RPi method (via https://github.com/rnurgaliyev/kmip-server-dsm), which I was able to get my 1522+ to connect to and looking at the logs I see it communicating with the KMIP server, however it wasn't able to unlock the volume on a reboot. This had an interesting side effect, and in a way is the solution we all want, because since it couldn't get the key from the KMIP server, I had to upload the key to unlock the volume.

The password to the Encryption Key Vault in the volume encryption in DSM 7.2 Beta
Hey guys, I was playing with PyKMIP a bit and ended up creating a working KMIP server in a container. So far it works well with 7.2 Beta, but of course, more testing is needed. Check this out, maybe it will be useful for anybody. There is also a small guide on how to set it up nicely on Raspberry Pi. https://github.com/rnurgaliyev/kmip-server-dsm
