qt-avif-image-plugin VS xviewer

Download qjpegxl.dll and qavif.dll and copy the DLL files into imageformats folder.

libavif supports building selected dependencies locally. I have a script which builds static libaom to be bundled into libavif together with libyuv. It was necessary to add -DCONFIG_PIC=1 https://github.com/novomesk/qt-avif-image-plugin/blob/master/ext/build_local_libaom_libavif.sh Does Debian allow bundled dependencies? Because that would be a possibility how to build feature complete libavif.

KDE apps (for example gwenview) are able to open AVIF when new versions of the following packages are installed: shared-mime-info, libavif, kimageformats When you have old packages, you can still register image/avif mime-type manually and to build/install the Qt plug-in manually. XViewer, which is the standard image/pdf/media viewer for most Linux distributions, allows you to right click on an image in a pdf and save to jpg/png file. I'm not sure if there is a windows/mac equivalent to this.

I don't think they can that directly. But it was the basis which is why there's commits like this https://github.com/linuxmint/xviewer/commit/61a2da998bf447c0e9aea9d5d0c1a7472715b1df for example where they are just switching things to Cinnamon but largely reusing the same code base. I don't know when the last time they rebased Cinnamon and Xapps to the latest GNOME stuff was.
