The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Learning C
This book should be fine. An excellent book written by the creator of C. You can also follow this Tutorial On Pointers And Arrays In C if you need a deeper dive with pointers.

New to programming, need advice on resources.
King book is the best IMHO. You can supplement it with this Tutorial On Pointers And Arrays In C

Pointers: a whole heap of trouble
This resource is always shared here, it may be useful for you.

Am i understanding pointer right ?
since you are in the subject of pointers, some time ago this reddit forum suggested me this Pointer Tutorial . It helped a lot!

Having a hard time with K&R exercises
Grab a copy of C programming: A Modern Approach and use it as your main course on C. Much better suited for beginners. Then Follow this Tutorial On Pointers And Arrays In C

My program just enters an infinite loop and idk what am I doing wrong.
Read this very helpful walkthrough on pointers here. Its pretty short and you don't need to read every part of it but reading first 6 chapters (each chapter is about a page long) will help clear pointers up. You may have to reread it a bit. Its the best explanation I have found. I struggled a bit with pointers too.

I'm struggling with pointers
Hi OP; I was struggling with pointers a few days ago as well and someone pointed to https://github.com/jflaherty/ptrtut13/releases/download/v1.5/pointers-and-arrays-in-c-jensen-1.5.pdf and I found it really helpful. You should check it out.

What books are good for learning general C programming ?
K&R is up to date for C90 but the language has not changed much so it's a good book still. Better if you are an experienced developer learning C. A better book for beginners is C programming: A Modern Approach and then follow this Tutorial On Pointers And Arrays In C

C_dictionary: A simple dynamically typed and sized hashmap in C - feedback welcome
There's a few ways to address this. This library has a good explanation of one of them here.

help with dynamic memory.
It's a good exercise to do this for yourself, but if you're doing this more than once, you might want to look at an existing dynamic array implementation that you can just drag in to your work. There are many of these, if you google for "dynamic array" you'll find lots of implementations. Personally I quite like this one.

What were some of your biggest breakthroughs while learning C?
Take a look here for an example that is relatively easy to read and understand (but not the best performance): https://github.com/mgrosvenor/evec

How to create an array of char pointers dynamically ??
Here’s a super easy to use dynamic array (vector). It will grow to accommodate more entries so it’s “safe” from the issues you mention: https://github.com/mgrosvenor/evec

Vectors
There's LOTs of libraries. I wrote one: https://github.com/mgrosvenor/evec

A std::vector style generic dynamic array inspired by on klib's kvec and stb's streachy_buffers.
I'm curios how evec stands up with your testing. Especially with/without pedantic mode (`#define pedantic 0` vs #define pedantic 1`).
