Chrono Cross was remastered because the devs feared the classic JRPG becoming "unplayable"
It's completely fair enough that it's not always financially worth it for a game publisher/developer to do a full blown rerelease of an old title but that doesn't mean the game needs to be resigned to only being available through arguably illegal means or by going through the rigmarole of buying the console + game used, or worst of all left completely unplayable. (eg. Darkspore, at least for now)

Looking for help
As for the actual Darkspore game, it’s not actually playable as the servers were shut down years ago. You can download it for free through Steam https://steamdb.info/app/102830/ (it says demo but it’s actually the full game), and use ReCap to bypass the launcher and server connection https://github.com/vitor251093/resurrection-capsule which lets you access the menus and editor, but not the actual game (yet)
