What's the durability of Flexible plate?
I think the fact that you're already concerned probably means that replacing it is appropriate. I found that I had to really take my time to get it completely and safely removed. I've been using a glass sheet which has a PEI sheet on one side. I just clean it (usually alcohol (91% isopropyl) on a paper towel, sand the PEI, and flip it over when needed for different materials. I thought about trying to replace it, but I've never had problems with glass and PEI. It may be necessary to add a spacer that fit's around the rods behind the build plate so you can keep the adjustment screws at a useful. Here's an example.
