How to configure and build a Pop_OS installer that will boot on a RX 7900 series GPU?
22.04 config is here - https://github.com/pop-os/iso/blob/master/config/pop-os/22.04.mk
-
Back when i tried, it was not this easy. Now i know how some distros do it
It might not be news for many, but i had never taken this route and after finding out about live-build i was able to find the repo for popos for example https://github.com/pop-os/iso

Is there a free (as in free spech) version of Pop_OS or a guide to make it one .
Bascially asking about updates for this issue: https://github.com/pop-os/iso/issues/18 or maybe a petite guide for making Pop_OS free (or even to only include open source software/firmware, I don't really care about licencing and patenting issues)
- It kills me to say this as a pop_os fan…

Issue installing Pop! 21.10 in VMWare Player
I attempted to upgrade a 21.10 install inside VMWare Player 16 on Windows, and pretty much epic failed. I downloaded the newest ISO and tried a new install, and that too fails. It reports a 'device busy (Error 16), which appears to be a previously fixed bug (#216) in GitHub: https://github.com/pop-os/iso/issues/216

Trying to switch from endeavour to pop however the installer fails and the log mentions something about endeavour
Ah, this is a known issue: https://github.com/pop-os/distinst/issues/196 https://github.com/pop-os/iso/issues/224

How to add packages directly to a iso?
Quick google told me about this: https://github.com/pop-os/iso, but I can't help more, as I never used Pop.

Why is this showing when I start my pop os? I don't even run Ubuntu.
The rest of the article is here https://github.com/pop-os/iso/issues/205

Install failed. I tried 20.04, 20.10, different USBs, different hard drives and NOPE!
Seems like a known issue https://github.com/pop-os/iso/issues/224 there are some work arounds in that post.

Getting error message when updating from 21.10 to 22.04. Please help!
Which I think should be similar to yours, and I ended up solving this following the git issues here https://github.com/pop-os/upgrade/issues/301

How do I do an OEM installation in 22.04?
There is not a GUI way to set this up (found an open issue on it though so maybe Way to set up OEM mode in GUI #202), but after a normal install you can edit a few files to have the same effect. Including enabling encryption if the new user wants!

Pop!_OS 20.04 user here, if the recovery partition is the same as the ISO, does that mean I can dd the ISO on the partition?
Good question! You might ask in chat.pop-os.org. All I can say is that this appears to be the backend for that button: https://github.com/pop-os/upgrade.

PopOS 22.04 LTS comes in 3 days.
It's listed in their changelog on Github https://github.com/pop-os/upgrade/blob/master/changelogs/22.04

when will popOS 21.10 be released ???
Keep a watch on this pull request: https://github.com/pop-os/upgrade/pull/223. When it’s merged into the master branch, the release is imminent.
- Trying to test pre-release 21.10 but forced pop-upgrade fails
- Will pop!_os not upgrade if you've added third party repositories and/or modified the fstab?

To Answer The Question: Should I upgrade to 21.04?
From the release changelogs we can see a lot of activity around COSMIC and Pop-Shell, but probably more importantly was improvement to the Pop Recovery tool to work better with Pop-Upgrade. This system-saving marvel is getting better all the time! As mentioned above, system-level updates and stability improvements are included.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing iso and upgrade you can also consider the following projects:
Ventoy - A new bootable USB solution.
pipewire - Mirror of the PipeWire repository (see https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/)
distinst - Installer Backend
beta - Pop!_OS Beta
default-settings - Distribution Default Settings
pop - A project for managing all Pop!_OS sources
shell - Pop!_OS Shell
