New here looking for resources or books for a person who has PTSD
What worked for me was doing EMDR on myself for old painful memories from my childhood that still haunted me. First I’m sorry for your loss. Steps that worked for me: 1-write down the specific memory of what happened. I used my phone and write a checklist. 2-lie down in bed looking at my screen, I have a monitor arm so I go under my blanket and bring the screen under with me. 3- use this https://github.com/hosteren/EMDR-for-browsers on my computer. 4- as I move my eyes side to side following the ball in my screen, in my mind I go to that memory and relieve it sometimes I am genuinely afraid of going there, I try to run away from it but I keep trying until I finally do. then I extract lessons and “changes from now on” I don’t think it’s an exact science but that’s what I found worked for me. I should also say I’m on an antidepressant for full disclosure. 5-I write the lesson I extracted and the change I am making from now on. One time it was that I would never let something like this happen again. I think you can use fantasies and imagination here.
