Fun feature update
This work was done quite quickly - fortunately I found davidfig/pixi-ease on Github which made it much easier.

Can someone please help me get this formula?
Looking at the source code (see for example https://github.com/IBM/motion/blob/master/src/config-constants.js) they definitely use cubic Bezier curves. A cubic Bezier curve is a curve with four points. The first and last point are two points that the curve goes through. The two points in between are control points that determine the shape of the curve. For the mathematics, Wikipedia has an extensive entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bézier_curve#Cubic_Bézier_curves.
What are some alternatives?
