I did it some time ago by another guide for Windows, without much complication (I think): Obtaining TOTP secret from Steam Desktop Authenticator (SDA).

This is getting out of hand
KeePass supports MFA. The apps (Keepassium, Keepass4Android) have it baked in. The desktop version requires you to install one plugin.

There are some desktop implementations of Steam TOTP client, so you don't even need a rooted phone, as long as you trust some random open source code. https://github.com/KeeTrayTOTP/KeeTrayTOTP#documentation
