The modules I use in Foundry and Why
Pf2e Extempore Effects is a lightweight module I'd really recommend. It allows you to turn any chat item into an effect that gets applied on a token. The effect doesn't actually do any automation, but it is great for tracking effects on PCs or NPCs that aren't supported by the base system, such as Afflictions.

Best way to tell a PC is holding a torch?
You can use PF2e Extempore Effects - share the torch description to chat, then right click on the description header and apply the effect. It will create an effect (with icon) to the token.
