If you click on the link for android on litecoin.org it actually takes you to https://lite-wallet.org/ where you'll find an app store link. Needs a bit of work to make that clearer I agree.

They store your keys/ seed ....it looks like it but it you have 100 Litecoin onLitewallet (the official wallet from Charlie Lee and. the Litecoin Foundation)...you can toss your iPhone or Android phone into the ocean and just restore on a new device with your 12 words

Yes. The 12 words given when you install Litewallet are a mnemonic version of the private key. That's why we beg you to keep them safe.
