pdfjs VS pdf-lib

pdfjs was pretty good when I used it https://github.com/rkusa/pdfjs

We use the pdfjs package here to generate the PDF for us. It just has dummy content in our case. You might generate it from scratch or compose it from other PDFs in your real-world app. See more on pdfjs usage in the docs. The most important part is the output we return in line 12. For a static site, aim to return an object with a body field which is a string. For SSR you can return a Response object instead and even stream HTML. We use binary encoding here which makes sure Astro encodes PDFs including images (for example) correctly — thanks to @altano for tip here.

I've also heard of one paid API that I forgot but seemed to work well, and this related service https://www.jotform.com/, and I also considered porting some server-side libraries to WASM. One day I'll collect all the libraries and findings in a blog post.

Are you looking to programmatically fill any PDF form by detecting the fields? Or are you filling one known PDF template?

Thanks! For PDF form filling, I use the APIs that pdf-lib [0] exposes. That includes text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns and options lists. Give it a try and let me know if you find a type of form field that's missing.
