Library for capturing and crafting packets
I think java represents packets as datagrams in the standard library, as described in this tutorial. Otherwise, pcap4j will probably fit your needs, depending on the actual requirements.

Pretty neat little project and actually solves a lot of my specific needs without including bigger libraries or writing everything myself. I don't have any useful feedback but you could take a look at Oshi (https://github.com/oshi/oshi) for how some other OSes are handled and what identifiers are being looked at. Nice work!
