osmnx-examples VS r5

Compare osmnx-examples vs r5 and see what are their differences.

r5

Developed to power Conveyal's web-based interface for scenario planning and land-use/transport accessibility analysis, R5 is our routing engine for multimodal (transit/bike/walk/car) networks with a particular focus on public transit (by conveyal)

The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

For the actual printing I used ripstop by the roll custom print service. To render the image to be printed I used an open source too, https://github.com/gboeing/osmnx

IIRC, it can generate graphs that are both unprojected and projected and convert between them, so it might be worth looking into the source code of it if you think that sounds like what you're looking for on the OSMNX GitHub repo

Geoff Boeing, the original author, provided an iPython notebook so you can run this yourself, but this script a friend of mine wrote may make it a bit simpler to run, if you wanna give it a shot yourself.

  • Which coding language might be helpful for me to self-study as an undergrad in planning?
    1 project | /r/urbanplanning | 22 Jan 2023
Other Languages - Languages like C++, Java, Rust, Go, and others are used to build planning tools, games, or sims. Examples include Conveyals Analysis tools or A/B Street. In transportation + environmental planning I have seen more applications of these languages than other sectors, but it is often by actual software developers rather than planners (or highly specialized planners). Often libraries such as Numpy, Pandas, or similar have their actual operations written in C++ for example to provide speed that comes from using lower level languages.

Ah, they're the output of specialized software to calculate point-to-point travel times by routing along a street network. The input CSVs are large because of routing from many origins to many destinations, usually all US census blocks to all nearby census blocks.
