Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Creating a ranking system when multiple game modes are in play. How to?
Weng-Lin Rating/OpenSkill seems interesting but I don't know any games that have actually used it. https://github.com/philihp/openskill.js

ELO required for each rank on Slippi Ranked
Fizzi actually wrote a pull request for openskill explicitly designed to prevent this from occurring, and it was merged into the official codebase. He's certainly cranked up the new parameter that he implemented to make sure that players' rankings don't get stale.
