onpremise VS pds

Here is some sample code that starts an EC2 Instance with a startup script. You can also set a timer and destroy the instance. Note the userData.addCommands which will run the first time an instance starts up. The Q1 timeline for public federation seems plausible.

They've launched the 'sandbox' which is the federated/decentralised dev/staging environment. So yes, you can run your own PDS (server) and have it federate with others, but it's still very much in development and 'here be dragons'
