looking for a specific mindmap/concept map tool that lets me do two way links or similar
... or the dataview based database folder
- Leaving Notion - plugins to achieve similar features?
- Can an Obsidian expert please weigh in here on whether this type of filter interface is possible on Obsidian, as it's not on Notion?
-
Notion-like Editing Experience - Is That Possible?
I used Obsidian DB Folder for a little bit, and it had some more functionality in its displays, but it felt rather clunky and still not quite where Notion is at, so I fell back to plain Dataview eventually.

Hi, is there a way to add interactable fields to dataview?
https://github.com/RafaelGB/obsidian-db-folder has that feature
- Obsidian: Do almost anything (really!) with system commands
-
What apps has Obsidian not been able to replace for you?
Google Keep for quick capture (simple copy-pasting links from mobile) and Notion for project management (although I think the Database Folders and Projects plugin can do a similar job)

Convince me I should switch from Bear to Obsidian
Features you can't replicate in Bear: - Dataview - https://github.com/blacksmithgu/obsidian-dataview - Making a movie database with Dataview - https://minimal.guide/Guides/Create+a+movie+database - Obsidian DB folder - https://github.com/RafaelGB/obsidian-db-folder - Quick switcher (CTRL+O on desktop) - Calendar - Templates - Templater - https://github.com/SilentVoid13/Templater - Theming community - Plugin ecosystem
- Notion out of nowhere asked me to set my cookie preferences. Clicking the "Accept all" button reloads Notion, but this popup appears every time. This seems to be happening on both Windows app and web browser.

Moving PKM to Obsidian from Notion / How should I organize my system?
You should separate your DBs into folders. And Use DB folder it's exactly what you want. Nicole van der Hoeven made a great video for beginners.

I'm completely stressed out trying to fix this so I hope one of you would be able to help me. I'm trying to create a home page of sorts so I can navigate my files without using the folders. (SEE COMMENTS)
I'm not really sure what you're after but I think you want to combine Folder Notes with Waypoint.

Just checked out obsidian recently and a big problem for me is that browsing through notes is very difficult. What do other people do about this?
I moved from Evernote and Apple notes and it was definitely a transition to Obsidian, visually and in organization. Evernote for instance had a card homepage, but I was able to find things like Folder Note Plugin that achieved card view of folders and gave ability to design them with CSS.

Any way to get a note in the folder like ZimWiki?
obsidian-folder-note-plugin or if you use Obsidian File Tree Alternative you can activate this feature in the settings
- Hello, is there a plugin to get a "gallery view" for the file explorer like in Craft.do? (I'm considering switching to Obsidian)
-
Plugin for displaying a canvas (MOC) when opening a folder
I'm looking for a plugin pretty much similar to Folder Note but that would allow me to attach a canvas to a folder so it could be used as a more visually engaging Map Of Contents to navigate through the notes and concepts.

Folder Notes plugin and pen & paper are the killer companions to Obsidian

-
Obsidian, Genuinely the Best Free Program for WorldBuilding and How to Use it!
Folder Note allows you to add a lil description to your folders, super helpful and convenient. link
-
How do I make a column layout with image buttons that link to other notes?
If you're talking about the middle column with the "subjects" split into different folders and pictures, I think it is done with this plugin.
-
How to autofill a parent note?
You might want to have a look at waypoint, possibly with folder note too. This will generate contents for folders (and sub folders if you want) automatically when you add, rename, or delete notes.

Show HN: Obsidian 1.0
Not sure what approach you're stumbling with re: images, but they definitely support them, but you can literally just drop an image onto the editor and it'll embed it, including locating it where you've specified that attachments should go.
The default file per folder is not built-in, but there is a handy community plugin[1] which does it.
