obi-sync VS obsidian-minimal-theme-css-snippets

Many other use cases are covered by great FOSS products, but somehow API clients are abused as a sync cash cow:

Sometimes they end up being helpful for other people.

I still use an ancient version of obsidian on my phone because it works with my hacks to self host the native sync server https://github.com/acheong08/obi-sync

For other open source contributions, I generally just add features I want or fix random bugs. I use exclusively open source software for everything, no big tech accounts at all. So contributing only helps myself

From what I understand, the author played cat and mouse with them until he gave up. Obsidian repeatedly “patched” the “vulnerabilities” that allowed you to modify the sync server address across 3 different versions.

Obsidian sells a first party syncing solution, which I hear works well:

I do git syncing on Android via termux (It works most of the time, except when git decides to shit itself every now and then on my tablet):

I can't vouch for it because I don't have any iOS devices new enough to support it, but supposedly you can use Working Copy to sync via git on iOS:

The patch addresses a security vulnerability.

Obsidian is not stopping people from creating syncing alternative (there are many that exist already), or reverse engineering the app. See my comment in the issue on the repo:

I use a keyboard shortcut to quickly switch between source and live preview mode.

I open sourced my css snippets repo, and the first CSS rule in this file in my minimal theme CSS snippets repo resets font sizes in source view so font sizes are the all the same:

This is a repo of my working obsidian UI improvements / plugin homogenizations for Minimal Theme users. The Properties autohide is pretty handy. Just a bunch of CSS. That's what I like about Obsidian, I fix anything I don't like.
