Memoirs from the old web: IE's crazy content rating system
Note that OARS is at risk of being abandoned¹ because people threatened to get the developer banned from GitHub² for giving app developers the ability to tag their app as having homosexual content (because said content is illegal in some countries.)

- Open source developer gives up on his work after being bullied about the wording on a standard he was implementing

Why is homosexuality listed as a separate warning in GNOME Software?
Long refusal by OARS: https://github.com/hughsie/oars/issues/39 https://github.com/hughsie/oars/issues/40
it was removed https://github.com/hughsie/oars/commit/bbb10186cbecb49252610e5604ed025df8f4c8b7

Elemenary Needs to examine its implicit LGTBQIA bias and think harder about the logic behind its content filtration in its app store.
As someone else pointed out, we took this conversation upstream to get the homosexuality tag removed from OARS

No more homosexuality tag in gnome-software! (almost, just need to wait for the update)
Recently I made a post about gnome-software including a tag suggesting homosexuality wasn't appropriate for children here. the age rating system gnome-software uses is called OARS (Open Age Rating System), there were already issues on github, and the gnome gitlab, and it seems the issue has been fixed here!

/r/GNOME mod closes x-post about GNOME Software homophobia "for the safety of everyone"
Thankfully it looks like the maintainer relented and revised the spec, but not without drama.
- Homophobia in GNOME software ratings? Maintainer won't budge, apparently
-
Gnome-software says application is acceptable for early childhood because it “has no references to homosexuality”
The last post has a point, this is nonsense.

- ElementaryOS 7 is a buggy mess of a distro. Very disappointed.
-
[Feature Request] - Pop Shop still does not show where an installation is coming from (normal apt/apt-get, Flatpak, Snap, etc.)
But it's a fork of https://github.com/elementary/appcenter
-
How to uninstall Mail, Calendar, Tasks in elementary 7?
There's already an open issue about it, and u/daniellefore has a lead on what could be the cause.
-
PopStore Freezing constantly.
The Pop!Shop isn't based of GNOME Software, but rather Elementary's Appcenter. I'm pretty sure it's a completely separate project. If I remember correctly, System76 worked with Elementary on this app.

Fedora should make their own software center to replace discover and gnome software center
Pop!_OS's "pop shop" is actually not their own creation. They borrowed/adapted it from another Ubuntu based distro ElementaryOS (these two projects seem to have a good working relationship and have borrowed from one another to the benefit of both). But credit where credit is due, the "Pop shop" is an attractive and well branded implementation/fork of the Elementary App Center. The pop team does make this clear on their github but most users seem unaware.

Please make a functional appstore
It works for me, but if you have any problems or a negative experience, describing this issue on GitHub (https://github.com/elementary/appcenter/issues) would be great!

hello I am a new user and I put elementary OS on my laptop and I can't get it Wi-Fi to work any ideas.
Try connecting with ethernet or thether your phone with USB. See here for a solution. Proposed drivers will not install correctly without proper kernel headers though I think it was fixed in a recent update. https://github.com/elementary/appcenter/issues/1603
- Fresh install Elementary OS 6, stock web browser not work, but firefox works, any tips?
