You buy your own eshop games/cartridges and use nxdumptool to rip them into either nsp or xci files along with any updates or dlc that you installed along the way.

I’m really happy I modded my switch. The best thing about it, I can overclock my switch to run 30fps game at 60fps

After you've done all that, you need to install NXDumpTool and use it to transfer your games to your micro SD card.

How do you run games without the cartridge?
Pretty sure you can do it from within tinfoil, iirc it’ll prompt you when launching or you can enable/disable in tinfoils settings. Or try this

If /u/SciresM can consider installing your own physical cartridges (not XCI backups) a warez tool, and ban SDSetup, et al. from ReSwitched for it, then I don't see how /u/XorTroll is being that unreasonable by refusing to support XCI installs.
