ntopng-udm VS ntopng

My friend just did ntopng on his with this script.https://github.com/tusc/ntopng-udm

I read about https://github.com/tusc/ntopng-udm but needing to do that and having to have another webpage up to see the kind of information I want ( not even sure if this is "real-time" ) is not a great solution.

You can view the DPI stats in the controller which no one has ever trusted. You can also use some 3rd party tools like iftop of ntopng to track bandwidth use. Full disclosure, I ported ntopng to the UDM: https://github.com/tusc/ntopng-udm

If you want something much better, do yourself a favour and install ntopng on your UDM. It records much more information than DPI like time-series data, supports IPv6, and is much more accurate at classifying traffic. You can read all the features ntop supports here.

You should look into setting up Ntopng. Wayyyy better monitoring and can track individual usage by IP, devices, etc. You set it up directly on the UDM or UDMP so no additional hardware. InfluxDB 2.0 Support (ntopng github)

For what it's worth, there used to be a package in many Linux repositories called "ntop" [1] but became less popular when they went commercial. There is still a community version but I have no idea how popular it is any more. It was quite popular prior to projects like PiHole. Perhaps the older ntop has fallen out of favor so maybe there won't be any confusion.

NTOP -- Traffic Analysis.

One of the comments suggests using a managed switch that supports port mirroring, and installing a Flow collector on the connected system. Google netflow collector for software options. Something like ntop may work. See... HowTo Monitor Traffic in SMEs and Home Networks: A Primer

What can I do to implement GeoIP support into ntopng? The instructions I found on the internet (e.g. https://github.com/ntop/ntopng/blob/dev/doc/README.geolocation.md) did not seem to fit the case.
