If you want Typescript maybe my NestJS starters for TypeORM and MikroORM are more up your alley. (;

Is it easier to move from sql to NoSQL on a project or vice versa (using node)
As for project setup, something as big as Upwork in a production environment IMHO would be using a framework like NestJS instead of barebones ExpressJS, as it offers more abstractions. If you'd like to see how I implemented all the features an API like that would need, I urge you to check out my NestJS GraphQL w/ authentication boilerplate! It also features REST endpoints if you don't want to use GQL.

Frustrated about ORMs
I've been using TypeORM for a good while now. I also have a boilerplate where I use it in NestJS, since that's my backend framework of choice, and am currently working on an analog version of that one using MikroORM.

Code First vs Type First
I also have a boilerplate which I can always clone and get started with quickly. This makes it a very streamlined process as it also uses GraphQL-Utils to help me optimize queries with SQL.
What are some alternatives?
node-express-boilerplate - A boilerplate for building production-ready RESTful APIs using Node.js, Express, and Mongoose
slonik - A Node.js PostgreSQL client with runtime and build time type safety, and composable SQL.
prisma-examples - 🚀 Ready-to-run Prisma example projects
graphql-code-generator - A tool for generating code based on a GraphQL schema and GraphQL operations (query/mutation/subscription), with flexible support for custom plugins.
nestjs-auth-graphql-mikroorm-starter - A NestJS boilerplate with authentication, GraphQL and MikroORM.
