How to run code without node?
In addition to the other responses, there are node packages like pkg and nexe that you can use to package the node executable and your code into a single executable.
-
Deploy on Windows Server
well... you need the code on the server in some way in order to run it. Nodejs doesn't compile to a binary. There are ways to wrap a node install and the code into a binary. But I have never used that in production and can't actually recommend it.
-
Can I use Node for general scripting? (Like python)
yes, you can even compile your js if you want a single executable, with things like nexe
-
Using NodeJs code on a webpage
https://github.com/nexe/nexe is another.
- nexe - create a single executable out of your node.js apps
- Nexe: Create a single executable out of your Node.js apps
- caxa -Package Node.js applications into executable binaries
- Deno 1.13 Release
- This finally happened: rust made more sense

Using Ultra, the new React web framework
Deno Deploy is a distributed serverless execution system that allows you to run JavaScript and TypeScript. It comes with V8 runtime and minimal latency and, like Cloudflare Workers, enables you to run code on edge. Ultra supports the official Deno Deploy GitHub action, which will allow you to serve static files on Deno Deploy.

a first look at deno deploy
We will be deploying this script from a URL on GitHub. Install the Deno Deploy GitHub App.

The Deno Company
Trying to signup for Deno Deploy, it asks for the 'Act on your behalf' github permission to make an account.
Clicking on 'Learn more about Deno Deploy' leads to https://github.com/apps/deno-deploy , which does not tell me more.
What does 'act on your behalf' mean for Deno Deploy?
What are some alternatives?
pkg - Package your Node.js project into an executable
firecracker - Secure and fast microVMs for serverless computing.
pydantic - Data validation using Python type hints
deno - A modern runtime for JavaScript and TypeScript.
tfjs - A WebGL accelerated JavaScript library for training and deploying ML models.
caxa - 📦 Package Node.js applications into executable binaries 📦
