Naemon VS Nagios

Looks like Nagios Core has the same behavior as Naemon Core: https://github.com/naemon/naemon-core/pull/92

With Statusengine you can add a database backend. I for example only use the Naemon fork of Nagios Core for many years now.

This open-source project "Nagios Plugins for Linux" provides several binary plugins for monitoring (physical and virtual) Linux hosts with Nagios and Nagios-compatible monitoring systems like Icinga and Naemon.

I switched to Naemon years ago. The communication with the devs is very pleasant.

I've used this opportunity to look at some recent init files.

Here's one of the first I stumbled upon.

It's 288 lines long; the LSB dependency nonsense is 8 lines of that.

Then I looked up one for Postgres;

This one is a whooping 356 lines long, LSB is again about 10 lines long, depending whether you count the header or not.

I don't think the "LSB dependency" argument holds water.

As far as i know there is no option to log all executed service checks except the debug log. Probably you are looking for log_service_retries=1 ?
