I use mtPaint; although GIMP is much more popular.

Thank you! It's 20" by 15". I don't actually use a pattern generator because I never print my patterns off. My process is to use mtPaint to scale the image to the right size (so 20" by 15" in 18pt canvas is 360 pixels by 270 pixels), and then select Convert To Indexed to reduce the number of colours (4 in this case). Then I zoom in and follow the pattern that way: 1 pixel = 1 stitch.

I combine grimshot + swappy to get something similar to Flameshot. Not as good, but it has the advantage of... actually working on Sway.
