modemu2k, a revived fork of modemu
Anyone remember modemu and believe it still might be useful in some cases? I'm not the original developer, but I revived it a few years ago (made it ipv6 capable for one example). It's new name is modemu2k and any feedback would be appreciated. I'm not too enthused about working on it at the moment since there are already so many programs that can do telnet + ssh, etc, but of course the unique aspect of modemu2k is that it can work with comm programs that don't otherwise have telnet capability, such as minicom. What do you think? Should I retire the project or keep it open, available for contributions and future improvements and bug fixes?

What does a V[F] for even just an F as the first character mean?
If you're struggling with this, Sean Middleditch's libtelnet library is a good resource for getting things off the ground. It's in a very portable C and can be made to work with Swift or Objective-C quite easily. Even if you're trying to code your own telnet stack, his public domain code is worth referencing.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing modemu2k and libtelnet you can also consider the following projects:
winflexbison - Main winflexbision repository
nyancat - Nyancat in your terminal, rendered through ANSI escape sequences. This is the source for the Debian package `nyancat`.
sbbs - Mirror of gitlab.synchro.net/sbbs (don't submit pull requests here)
MAC-Telnet - Open source MAC Telnet client and server for connecting to Mikrotik RouterOS routers and Posix devices using MAC addresses
puNES - Qt-based Nintendo Entertaiment System emulator and NSF/NSF2/NSFe Music Player (Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and Windows)
RVVM - The RISC-V Virtual Machine
