The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Lua vs LUA is an in-joke in the community. It's even spawned a hilarious fork of Lua. It's also a reasonably good identifier to check if somebody's ventured into the community or read any of the project's documentation. If they call it LUA, there's a good chance their exposure to it goes about as deep as seeing the file extension in their game folder.

Again on 0-based vs. 1-based indexing
This is much easier to compute when everything uses 0-based coordinates.
Here is a slightly longer discussion of that in a genomics context: https://github.com/ga4gh/ga4gh-schemas/issues/121#issuecomme... and a draft of a document I wrote up (again, in a genomics context) so as never to have to have this discussion ever again: https://github.com/jmarshall/ga4gh-schemablocks.github.io/bl...
