The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.

Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.

Dead code or unused code removal in ruby on rails.
We use something like https://github.com/lewispb/tombstone. Essentially you log calls to something you suspect is dead and if the logger stays there long enough, you remove it.
