This series has been inspired by “conversations” I have had on dev.to and medium.com. Some of which were constructive and drove me and others to new ways of thinking about things, and some were sources of new information for my block lists on the respective platforms.

Hello, as someone with not a whole lot of experience who's trying to create a resume, I need advice. I'm trying to find a job in proofreading and have 3 years of writing experience.  I've been homeschooled since age 7, but learned how to proofread through Skillshare, I took 2 classes. So to compensate for not having a school degree, I became a freelance proofreading intern to build up a portfolio to show for it. In 2020, I used to have a blog on Medium.com, but have since deleted it because I don't use it anymore and I didn't think to save any articles to prove it.

You could try writing blog posts for a company[1]. I haven't done this but I know people who have. It's crazy what some companies pay for such low-quality content sometimes.

Community Writer Programs

Applying for jobs has to be the biggest headache for technical writers. There are lots of writing and guest author programs here for technical writers to apply to. There are also Paid Community Programs and Community Writer Programs carefully curated for writers.

There are so many great resources to learn about technical writing.
