On the limits of MDX

Yep, you can import JSX components and embed them with your run-of-the-mill Markdown prose. If you're documenting your JSX based component library, which is what Docz let you do, this makes all the sense in the world. MDX is also used to author slide decks in mdx-deck, which is very appealing if you're tired of clicking around in Keynote/PowerPoint/Google Sheets. Which many of us are. I'm not denying the appeal or usability of MDX for certain things for certain people.
Use git submodules and make for simple code sharing

Including the building of graphviz within pandoc lead to high build times, which is exactly the problem I wanted to avoid with the move away from mdx-deck
FASTA file on a macbook air

You could try sublime text instead - if you make a new file in sublime, paste in the contents you want to be in the fasta file, you can save it as whatever you want. Sublime won't add a file extension to the saved file except what you tell it to (for example, when saving the file, if you name it sequence.fasta that's what you'll get).
execute if something is NOT true

So, it's just a text file in which you write down your commands, one per line. That means you can use a good code editor like VSCode or Sublime (both of which have addons to make datapack / function development easier) to massively speed up your development because you just have a bunch of text files with all your commands in them!
I have an old website on my hard drive that I now want to move to a new domain / hosting. I can't change the URL in settings on Wordpress because the old website is long gone.

Yeah, that should work fine if the database is small, but if it's large I don't know that TextEdit could handle it. A true code editor like Sublime Text would be able to handle a larger file better: https://www.sublimetext.com/
Sublime Text used to be my top-tier favourite IDE no questions asked - but Sublime Text 4 suuuucks and I find myself actively fighting against it these days with all of its annoying autocompletes. Sublime Text 3 is probably still good for a few years before it starts to feel outdated, though!
Which code editor / ide do all of you use?

mod11 Challenge: Until someone proves to mods that their account number shows up in this text file of every invalid mod11 CS account number up to 600,000, then mod11 is not debunked

Right click the link and save it rather than trying to open in your browser. It's a big text file and your browser is most likely gonna struggle reading it as well as basic text reading apps. Best to open it with something like Sublime Text
