PIA headless with open port how?
Nope, those are here but they're clunky as heck

Hi, anyone can explain for me how to port forwarding with PIA VPN on Linux Headless?
I don't know what to do with these PIA github files. https://github.com/pia-foss/manual-connections

Able to get config files for WireGuard?
WireGuard is much faster for me. See here for PIA and 3rd party scripts which can be used to create WireGuard config files.
-
When creating an open config file where are the port forwarding options?
There's a separate API you need to use after the link is up
-
Using VPN with utorrent
If you're running a Linux server and want to automate it, PIA's automated connection scripts are here, and this script automatically runs those scripts, grabs the forwarded port and updates the config of your favorite client, then starts it.

Has PIA been abandoned?
I'm a bit partial to doing vpn with foss protocol and clients, without gui applications at all on mac and linux. PIA provides some nice resources to that end on their foss github page.

How do I prevent the wireguard token from expiring?
I set up PIA on my Ubuntu Server (which does not run 24/7) using the official Manual Connections repository, however with WireGuard, the authentication token runs out for me after a few days (since it expires when my server is turned off, then it can't get a new token when it turns back on), is there any way I can prevent this? It was working perfectly before the access token expired :p

gluetun authentication with PIA
It's a bit of a pain in the butt, but I used the PIA manual connection script to generate a wireguard config file, and then I plugged that into gluetun and now it works great. Was easier than trying to config OpenVPN

Mullvad VPN was subject to a search warrant
I'm satisfied with the transparency Mullvad has shown by publishing its 9 audits.[1] I also appreciate how Mullvad releases up-to-date source code for all of its software clients, which I consider a bare minimum for any VPN to even be considered.[2]
Private Internet Access, on the other hand, does not release up-to-date source code for its software clients:
- PIA Android client: latest source release v3.14.0 (Mar 18, 2022) vs. latest Google Play release v3.18.0 (Feb 22, 2023)[3]
- PIA iOS client: latest source release v3.14.0 (Mar 18, 2022) vs. latest App Store release v3.20.0 (Mar 1, 2023)[4]
- PIA desktop client: latest source release v3.3.0 (Feb 23, 2022) / v3.4.1-beta1 (Aug 18, 2022) vs. latest downloadable release v3.3.1 (unknown)[5]
- PIA browser extension: latest source release v3.1.0 (May 31, 2021) vs. latest Chrome Web Store release v3.2.0 (March 8, 2022)[6]
It's not clear to me how much of a say you still have in PIA's operations, but if you have any influence, I kindly ask you to direct them to release the source code of PIA's clients on time, every time a new client version is released. Having open source clients was the PIA's last claim to credibility after PIA was acquired by the former adware/malware distributor Kape Technologies.[7]

Desktop App v3.3.1 Closed Source Now?
Why is the latest version 3.3.1 Desktop app source no longer available on Github? Only compiled binary packages are linked along with their signatures on PIA site...

Connecting to unRaid Wireguard on public wifi
Their software is open source. There is certainly the possibility that they are logging what sites you are visiting, but as I understand it they have shown in court multiple times that it is not the case. This does certainly shake my trust in them though. Recommended alternative that doesn't log and supports a gigabit connection?

How to build PIA client from source?
I am building my home server on Raspberry Pi 4 B with Ubuntu 21.04. However, there's no installer for arm64 devices (the installer on the website only supports x86_64). Therefore I am going to build from the source here.

VPN compatibility?
If you want a VPN that works on Linux, choose one that uses standard protocols such as PIA which offers native clients as well as shell scripts (although I wrote my own)
What are some alternatives?
pia-wg - Linux shell scripts for connecting to Private Internet Access VPN's Wireguard service
piawgcli
desktop-app - Official IVPN Desktop app
pia-wg - A WireGuard configuration utility for Private Internet Access
mullvadvpn-app - The Mullvad VPN client app for desktop and mobile
manual-connections - Scripts for manual connections to Private Internet Access
ZudVPN - A mobile application to deploy private VPN servers in the cloud with DNS ad-blocking and other features
pia-launch - A simple wrapper for OpenVPN for use with Private Internet Access on Linux
arch-qbittorrentvpn - Docker build script for Arch Linux base with qBittorrent, Privoxy and OpenVPN
OPNsensePIAWireguard - This script automates the process of getting Wireguard setup on OPNsense to connect to PIA's NextGen Wireguard servers. It will create Wireguard Instance(Local) and Peer(Endpoint) on your OPNsense setup.
