Emacs 29.1 Released
Emacs has code peek.
With lsp-mode it has that little window: https://emacs-lsp.github.io/lsp-ui/#lsp-ui-peek
Personally I use eglot with consult which temporarily switches the entire buffer to do the "peek" functionality rather than popping up a tiny window: https://github.com/minad/consult

Help tracking down problem with text below the cursor moving with cc-mode/lsp
I couldn't reproduce it with my setup. Just for the reference, I use Doom ba35f12be with Emacs 29.0.50 76b7a5936 on Debian 10. Specifically, lsp-mode 68bdac0f8, lsp-ui d8cce7dc1. I use monospace Iosevka TTF font for both italics and regular faces.

How about setting up Emacs for rust development?
rustic + lsp-mode + lsp-ui leads to a pretty slick IDE-like experience for Rust. All of these should work pretty okay out of the box!

Way too many recommendations and high memory usage in lsp-mode for Haskell
I think you should be customizing LSP-UI specifically for the grey text issue, but I haven't used it recently enough to remember: https://github.com/emacs-lsp/lsp-ui

Emacs 29.1 Released
Then it would just have a dependency on Clang, and you couldn't use Emacs at all (since you can't use Clang).
AFAIK, the only alternative to the clangd language server is ccls: https://github.com/MaskRay/ccls

small vimrc and lsp?
The base config adds about 15 lines (I have extra settings adding another 15 lines), then each language server adds a few lines per augroup. Example config for ccls.

Using same vimrc on different hosts/platforms
"" https://github.com/MaskRay/ccls/wiki/vim-lsp if executable('ccls') augroup lsp_ccls ....

clangd lsp not working as excepted (compile_commands.json)
Try ccls instead, it has setup instructions for many LSP clients in the wiki: https://github.com/MaskRay/ccls

Anyone uses emacs with GDExtension/GDNative?
these days a good lsp plugin will get you 90% of what you need for most languages and codebases. once youve got that set up its just a matter of picking lsp servers. i use ccls for c/c++. if you set it up and its not giving you hints for godot classes you probably have to point ccls at the proper godot-cpp subdirs using a .ccls file in your project root.
