The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.

Skip over bracket plugins
As far as I know, all the bracket related plugins do that. This is at least the case of the one I'm maintaining (https://github.com/LucHermitte/lh-brackets) and of many others

Auto-bracket matching, but don't insert the extra closing bracket when I press it myself
I made a plugin specifically for that. It aims to keep things simple, so I'm pretty sure you can use it without any config and it will "just work".

I made a little pairs plugin which tries to be very simple and consistent.

Yes, I wrote my own plugin for that because I didn't like current solutions. It's not perfect but it gets out of the way when I want it to and it "just works".

Moving in insert mode messes up the "." register.
I had a similar issue, and didn't like the current plugins, which IMO did a bit too much, so I ended up making my own: https://github.com/gosukiwi/vim-smartpairs
