is there a way to execute jar files from leiningen from the clojure compiler
If you want to build a native executable that doesn't need a JVM then you can use lein-native-image, but this will produce an executable for your platform, not something platform independent like a jar.

I did, to the same results. On the crosspost to r/clojure, I was advised to require the javafx-packages (most important, the platform-native ones) explicitly, given a link to some project's deps.edn, and that did the trick.
