arb VS vorta

Google doesn't care for it's users and Drive is an horrible product. Don't use it. There are better alternatives for backup both on software and host.

This a backup script that I wrote which does in E2E encryption and syncing integrating Borg, Rclone and Gocryptfs.

If you are worried about data privacy you can encrypt it before syncing to cloud using gocryptfs. borg is great for achiving and deduplication. Rclone can be used to sync between more than a hundred providers, including the most free ones, GCP, AWS, etc. I wrote a script to glue them together. I use the Vorta Borg Desktop Client and the backups live on an inexpensive Storage VPS.

If you need to encrypt your backups (or even if you don't) I would suggest borgbackup and vorta, it makes differential backups so each one after the first is only the size of the changes mine are roughly 50 MiB each, so its much faster and space efficient than whole backups using something like tar or rsync.

Since I know that borg backup it is a pretty solid tool I wanted to give it a try and I ended up choosing Vorta to have a nice GUI experience.

Different UI and backend, but would vorta (borg front end) work?
