After a few days I finally solved the CORS error problem, but Laravel seem to have an issue!
not sure if you tried this middleware, https://github.com/fruitcake/laravel-cors but looks like it'll handle a few different usage cases.

Is my CORS issue due to Next.js or because of the backend?
Sounds like this is possibly an issue with the laravel-cors package, some of the comments in this thread sound very similar https://github.com/fruitcake/laravel-cors/issues/504

It really is hard to leave Gmail when all of your data has been conveniently stored therein. This is one of Google's retention strategies and it is indeed brilliant.
That said, there's a vast number of self-hosted alternatives like Stalwart Mail (email) [1], Immich (images) [2], NextCloud (Google Docs) [3], etc.

Good open source self-hostable alternatives exist! https://nextcloud.com/ (no affiliation, just a longtime happy user) is great for file sharing and even collaborative online document editing.
If you do not want to host your own instance, there are many great providers who will host one for you at a low cost.
