DOS-based GUIs were the rage in its days.
In 1999 I coded a graphical environment for DOS using Borland's BGI in Turbo Pascal. I even used it in one of my uni assignments[0].
I still remember some afternoons in the library, helping pals with linked lists basics and finetuning my textbox scroll code. Good times.

But it is not up to date with Godot 4. You can have your Firefox or Blender window be a regular texture inside a full Godot game, pretty crazy...
