Do I have a bug in my configs for neovim and LuaSnip, or is this a bug with LuaSnip?
To apply Variable/Placeholder-transformations https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/editor/userdefinedsnippets#_variable-transforms, luasnip needs to apply ECMAScript regexes. This is implemented by relying on jsregexp https://github.com/kmarius/jsregexp.

It's now more accurate (the resulting snippets are closer to what vscode produces), and finally capable of performing transformations on placeholders/variables (with the help of jsregexp).
