Using the Javascript slice() method with no arguments
I'm currently reading through this jquery masking plugin to try and understand how it works, and in numerous places the author calls the slice() function passing no arguments to it. For instance here the _buffer variable is slice()d, and _buffer.slice() and _buffer seem to hold the same values.

Standard way to show image only when fully loaded
This is not PHP-related obviously and shouldn't be posted here, but the only thing you need to know is sometimes cached images don't fire the events like other images. Just google and look on StackOverview and you'll find an answer quickly. I actually prefer to use this very simple plugin https://github.com/alexanderdickson/waitForImages.
